About
I am a researcher, musician, and software engineer based in Kyoto, and currently a Postdoctoral Researcher in computer-assisted music analysis of large collections at the Speech and Audio Processing Laboratory, Kyoto University.
Previously, I held research positions at Centre for Digital Music, Queen Mary University of London and the Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence Group, University of Bern. I obtained a PhD in Music Theory and an MA in Art History from the University of Minnesota as well as an MSc in Computer Science from the University of Bern.
My research interests include computational musicology, music representation, human-computer interaction and creativity, interdisciplinary arts, and creative applications of machine learning.
I also compose, produce, and perform electronic, improvised, and popular music and have worked with various musicians and bands around the world.
In the past I have been active as an independent and contracted software engineer in the industry and governmental institutions. Past employments include the Swiss Federal Office of Metrology METAS, Puzzle ITC, PostFinance, Siemens.
